The fashion choices of early 20th-century First Nations protesters were conservative but creative. From the early 1970s, protest wear was in full swing, with cultural motifs, political slogans, and the Aboriginal flag on headbands, t-shirts and guernseys. By the 1990s, the Torres Strait Islander flag joined the political and cultural fashions.
