Welcome!
Thank you for visiting the website of the research project Ad(dressing) Indigeneity: identity, healing, and social change through clothing, fashion, and style.
This project aims to highlight and connect the historical stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clothing and dress to First Nations fashion practices today.
Look at the different themes to learn more about how First Nations people communicate(d) cultural identity, activism, self-determination, and well-being through their clothing, dress and fashion.
Warning to First Nations visitors: this website has triggering and culturally sensitive images and stories that may cause concern and distress.
This project is funded through the Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (University of Technology Sydney).
