Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the website of the former research project Ad(dressing) Indigeneity: identity, healing, and social change through clothing, fashion, and style.

This project highlights and connects the historical stories of Australian First Nations clothing and dress to contemporary fashion practices today.

Look at the different themes to learn more about how First Nations people communicate(d) cultural identity, activism, self-determination, and wellbeing through their clothing, dress and fashion.

Warning to First Nations visitors: this website has triggering and culturally sensitive images and stories that may cause concern and distress.

This project was previously funded through the University of Technology Sydney‘s Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.
